SO MANY THOUGHTS TONIGHT

I have been having a hard time getting into my blog to write.  I still haven't figured out just what the reason is, but tonight I had a good click of my mouse and here is the page on which to write.  It is late and I really do need to go to bed, but I figured I'd better "make hay while the sun shines" (even though the sun has not shone for several hours).

Speaking of sun,  today has been a scorcher.  The temperature was in the 90 degree range but the humidity was a "killer".  The weather person said that if the humidity was in the 70's that was too high for "children, dogs and elderly" to be outside.  Houston and I took her word for it and didn't go for a walk until about 6:00 pm.  At that time it was a little better but still only could handle a short walk - 15 minutes around the complex and glad to get inside.  I find it extremely hard to breathe when the air is heavy.  I don't have any trouble inside in the a/c unless I am doing a lot of walking or cleaning, etc.  It is really a hard cross to bear - the breathing and the eyesight problems.  I am finding it extremely hard to read for any length of time now.  I know this sounds crazy but after about 45 minutes of reading a big print book the pages begin to look as though someone has smeared a pink streak across the pages and the words get all mixed up.  I can stop for a while and then take it back up again.  It is quite a bother when I am reading a very good James Patterson novel, get to a good place - exciting place - and here comes the pink stuff.  Sometimes I lose my patience and throw the book across the room.  Since it is a library book I should be more careful or I will be getting fined for misuse of public property.

I don't know if all of the people that read this blog know that on September 27th I am moving into Ray and Nita's home.  It has been quite emotional for me to give up my pretty apartment and also so much of my things and scale down to two rooms.  Nita is letting me have one of her bedrooms for my living room and one of her bedrooms for my bedroom and there is a lovely bathroom in between.  I will be able to have my living room furniture and my bedroom furniture, along with some of my extra things like book cases, baker's rack, etc.  For Nita and Ray to do this for me is huge.  They have a lovely home and Nita has it furnished so beautifully.  She is even taking her precious playroom that she has for her grandchildren and making it into a guest bedroom.  Nita works at a doctor's office and comes home at night so tired that I worry about my being there at night to cause her more work.  I am going to try to remember all of the things that were not good when Aunt Ree lived with me and not do those things to Nita and Ray.  I feel that they must love me a whole lot to make this big adjustment in their lives.  I do hope that I deserve this big change in their lives.  It will not be easy I am sure because I remember so well when Aunt Ree would just aggravate the socks off of me during our time together.  My aim is to not cause them more work, more worry or more disruption than necessary.  Houston, of course, will have to adapt to this new change also but I think he will be fine as long as he is with me.  When her children come to visit I will take Houston and go visit Sara or one of the girls.  During the remaining time that I will be here in the apartment, I am trying to get rid of things that I don't need and decide what I do want and what I don't want and what I can use in my limited space.  It will all work out just fine and Nita and Ray will never know just how much I appreciate what they are doing for me.  My eyesight is such that I certainly do not need to be using a stove and I also need help with many other things.  I can tell a difference in the way I see now as opposed to a year ago.  A huge difference.

This week-end, Labor Day Week-end, is going to be a lovely one for me and for my family.  All of the family, with the exception of Drew and his family and Tracey and her family, will gather in Florence, Alabama on Saturday afternoon.  We are all staying at the Marriott Hotel and Leslie has planned the whole week-end for us.  Saturday night we will go to Leslie and Russell's house for dinner and to celebrate Corinne's 60th birthday.  That will be a gala affair I am sure.  On Sunday we will have fun at the pool and then go into downtown Florence for a dinner at an Italian restaurant that is just wonderful (I have been there once).  Then we will go back to the Marriott Hotel for a fireworks display. On Monday we will go to Leslie and Russell's house for brunch before heading back to Hendersonville.  I am certainly looking forward to spending all of this time with my children and their spouses, my grandchildren and my great-gran children.  I'm certain that it will be a lovely week-end where we will make many memories.

The East High Alumni Golf Tournament is on September 4th and I have really worked hard to help it be a big success.  The money that is derived from this function goes to the scholarship program.  Last year we had $11.000 given to the program  I don't think we will be that successful this year because the interest has not been shown that was shown last year.  I feel so sorry for the Chairman of the committee because he has worked so hard for a year on this one tournament and he doesn't have near the players, sponsors or workers that he should have by this date.  Who knows - maybe a lot of activity will come forth in the next two weeks and make it all wonderful.  I can always think positively can't I?  When it comes time to award those scholarships I want all the money I can get my hands on so I am working myself to death.  Hope it all comes to fruition.

Well, I suppose that I have written enough for tonight.  My plan is to do better with this blog and write more often.  I use this means of looking back and seeing what I did at certain times in my life.  If I don't record it here then I forget so it would be to my advantage to keep a better journal.  I guess that I have been so busy trying to adjust to moving and thinking about what my future is going to be - will I be happy?  Will Nita and Ray be sorry they offered me this help?  Will I still be able to do the things that I like to do?  Will I stay well and not be a burden?  So many thoughts running through my head day and night and that is really crazy because as the song says "what is to be will be" and God has a plan - He always has and always will - so I should leave it up to Him because God is good - all the time.
