Today is Tuesday, September 22, 2009 and it is a very significant day to our family. This is the day that Christopher Raymond Maddux, Jr. was born in Jackson, MS four years ago. He is the son of Chris and Ashley. He is already a Vanderbilt Fan and wears the jerseys bearing that name, a cap and can sing every word of Dynamite, the Vandy fight song. I had the privilege to share his party this past Sunday and he, along with his cousins, had a grand time. HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRISTOPHER. Your Mimi loves you very much.
Kim was admitted to the hospital yesterday. She went to Vanderbilt for radiation and possible chemo and because of the lab reports showing problems with her blood, fluids and of course her nutrition, or lack of it, causing a considerable weight loss in just a week, her doctor omitted the chemo, gave her the radiation and immediately hooked up an IV for fluids and then admitted her. She had a pretty rough time after being taken to a room. Many hours passed with nothing being done because of "lack of communication between staff and doctor". No orders were written and received by the nurses on duty so therefore no IV, no medication for pain or nausea. Our Family Resident Nurse, Corinne, took this for a while and then called the doctor on call, got immediate response from the oncology team doctor and orders were written and the last I heard before I went to sleep at 10:30 was that they were getting ready to give her some attention. Meanwhile Corinne had gotten her a grilled cheese sandwich and ice cream sandwich and she had managed to eat some of that. As great as Vanderbilt Hospital's reputation is we have found out that communication there is just like it is anywhere in any hospital or, for that matter, anywhere in general which can be pretty bad at times. Hopefully, things will go better today. If not I guess that we will have Corinne to come and "do her thing".
We have another family member in need of prayer today. Ray Maddux is having his heart shocked this morning. There is a word for the procedure - Cardiovert I think is the word and I hope I have spelled it correctly, but it means putting him to sleep, using those paddles to get his heart back into rhythm and hopefully it will stay in rhythm. This procedure has been performed on him before several times and we hope that this will be the last time and his medicine will keep things good for him.
Seems like the Cline Family is, as the song goes "Standing in the need of prayer" and we ask that you continue to ask our Lord to put His arms around Kim as she fights this battle called cancer and we ask you to be with Ray today that the procedure will be successful and he can check this problem off of his list. Thank you for your prayers.
